As mentioned on Monday, this week at KUTD we’re focusing on great Father’s Day gift ideas, especially quick ones now that we’re closing in on the deadline day (This Sunday, June 21!), and I’ve been hanging on to this pattern until just such an occasion. Not only is today’s suggestion great for Father’s Day, it’s also great for all of those summery formal occasions coming up. Today’s KUTD-able pattern is this hilariously awesome knitted Bow Tie by KnitPicks. I never in a million years would’ve thought of knitting a bow tie, but this bow tie would be great for dad and any of his formal attire needs.  And ladies… surprise your date with something totally different and unique. You or your date need this bow tie! This would be perfect if you’re planning to attend a wedding soon, too, (After all, it is peak wedding season) or to give to any of the men in your life that want to step it up a notch. Make one for the groom or make a set of matching ones for all of the men in the wedding party!  Men, if you knit… surprise your groomsmen or dad with a handcrafted bow tie that will be cherished for years to come.

This pattern is not only great for the men in your life (or yourself, guys!) but as mentioned, it would also make a fun Father’s Day gift… which is just around the corner! And who says the bow tie has to be used as a bow tie? You could knit these up and use them as embellishments on other knitted projects, or they can even be used as the final touch on gift wrap. Knit up several in a wide variety of colors to use in your hair as accessories, ladies!

The pattern recommends fingering weight yarn on US sizes 1-3 needles and is a quick knit. Don’t let the bow tie go out of style; knit one for yourself or a loved one today and ensure the charm of the bow tie is always fashionable! Enjoy :)
