KUTD-able Pattern: Monster Baby Booties

Holy cow, are these the cutest things you’ve ever seen or what? (And ‘or what’ is not an option.)  Be prepared, KUTD-ers, this is just one of many little free baby patterns you’ll see over the next 5 months; my brother and sister-in-law are expecting, and I will be on the hunt for perfect baby knits. These Knit Monster Baby Booties by Shana over at needyl.com fit the bill perfectly, don’t you think?

Spring and early summer seem to be popular due dates, so you may know of at least one or maybe several couples who would appreciate handmade goodies for baby. Baby knits are great KUTD-able projects because they are just so darned tiny and easy to tote around. They are great instant gratification and can usually be completed in just one day. This particular pattern calls for the good ol’ trusty US size 5 DPNs (I assume you can Magic Loop as well), a small amount of worsted weight yarn for the soles, and a small amount of fuzzy yarn like Moda-Dea Dream for the body of the booties.  You may be able to get away with Fun Fur, too. I’m no expert when it comes to novelty yarns, though, so take that with a grain of salt; the Moda-Dea site says that the Dream yarn weight is 4/worsted and the Lion Brand site says Fun Fur is classed as a 5/bulky yarn.  Check your gauge and your options on this one.

Do you crochet? There is a crochet version of the Monster Baby Booties for those who are interested in going that route. Whichever way you choose, make sure these fantastic booties are on your “to make” list this spring. Enjoy the pattern and the rest of your work week, and hope to see you back here on Monday for a new free KUTD-able pattern suggestion :)
